Finding a Balance (FAB): This curriculum centers around the Healthy Diabetes Plate. Participants learn how healthy eating can help them to prevent diabetes, or prevent complications of diabetes. It is designed for household where someone has pre-diabetes or Type 2 diabetes and their caregivers. Also included are delicious, affordable recipes, ideas for accessible physical activities, time to practice real-world skills, like goal setting and label reading, and communication techniques that can help with developing a strong support system including healthcare providers, family and friends. Program can be either taken in-person or live online via Zoom. The class time 8 hours. Lessons Include: Who is On Your Team? Healthy Children, Healthy Families: Parents Making a Difference (HCHF): This curriculum integrates parenting skills to help parents influence children’s eating and active play; not just what to do, but how, discussion about barriers and ways to find and create support, tools to make behavior change easier. Participants are taught the “Keys to Success” that will assist them in achieving firm and responsive parenting skills which are SHOWING, SUPPORTING, GUIDING and SHAPING. Program is in person only. The class time 13 hours.
